When having a baby we know there are lots of costs and typically think of things like diapers, car seats, strollers etc. There are other things that our clients have told us they wish they had known about so they could budget.
Maternity Clothes
As baby grows your body changes as well. It becomes uncomfortable at some point to continue to wear the same clothes as before. If you work in an office this become especially difficult. Maternity clothes can be expensive in the stores. You can try second hand stores and Facebook groups for great finds.
Shoes
Many expectant moms find that there feet change size during pregnancy and sometimes stay that size after delivery. Some pregnant moms find regular shoes uncomfortable and have to resort to slip on shoes no matter what the season.
Underwear
As the belly changes shape it can be uncomfortable to continue wearing your old underwear. You may find you want something low-riding so it is under the belly or you may want something the goes over the belly.
Skin care
With the hormonal changes in pregnancy, some moms-to-be find that their skin breaks out. Many have to spend extra money on acne treatments.
Pillows and pillowcase
Sleeping becomes quite difficult towards the end of pregnancy and pillows can be your new best friend.
Pantiliners
Hormones can increase the amount of discharge a women experiences in pregnancy. This causes many women’s to have to wear a pantiliner to protect their underwear.
Wipes
Also due to the increase in discharge many expectant moms like to use toilet wipes after going to the washroom to stay fresh.
Bedrest
Some expectant moms are put on bed rest at some point during their pregnancy. This can be quite an unexpected cost if your work does not allow for full pay during this time.
Keep these in mind when planning for your little one and know that in the end it is all worth it!
